Vision Therapy
What is Vision Therapy?
Vision therapy is a safe, drug-free, and effective treatment for both children and adults. While visual acuity, the "20/20" part of vision requires glasses to correct, visual skills like tracking, focusing, and eye teaming must be learned and developed. The good news is these skills can be improved at any age.
Does My Child Have a Vision Problem?
It is estimated that 1 in 10 children have a vision problem severe enough to affect their learning in school. The challenge is that standard school vision screenings can miss up to half of these problems because they only test whether a child can see the letters on a chart, not whether their eyes are actually working together properly.
If your child is struggling with reading, attention, or learning despite trying hard, their eyes may be the missing piece.
A comprehensive vision exam with Dr. Kowallis can check all aspects of eye health, vision, and visual skills and make sure your child is not struggling unnecessarily with an undiagnosed vision problem.
What is Interactive Metronome?
Interactive Metronome is a specialized tool we use as part of vision therapy. It works as a feedback system that uses sound and vision together to help organize a person's timing and coordination.
By helping the brain match and coordinate its timing, it can improve how information is processed and how a person responds to their environment. For children especially, this can make a significant difference in attention, learning, and overall performance.
